Introducing Our Redesigned Log In & Security Hub
We’ve streamlined your security experience by organizing everything under a new Log In & Security section, divided into two clear categories:
- Passwordless Unlock – Access RoboForm without typing your master password
- Two-Factor Authentication – Add an extra layer of security to your account (2FA)
This reorganization makes it easier than ever to find and manage your security preferences.
Passkeys: The Future of Authentication is Here
Passkeys represent the next evolution in digital security. They’re more secure than passwords and allow for more convenient ways to access online services. RoboForm already stores and manages passkeys for other websites and services. We’ve now expanded passkey functionality to provide secure access to RoboForm itself.
Expanded Options for Unlocking and 2FA
Our new passkey integration expands your authentication options for both Passwordless Unlock and Two-Factor Authentication. You can now use:
- Another trusted device–typically an iOS or Android smartphone.
- Hardware security keys that support passkeys like the Yubikey Security Key C NFC or the Google Titan.
The above features are included in both our Free and Premium plans
Easily Unlock our Standalone Extensions
For the first time, you can unlock RoboForm without needing to type in a password in our standalone extensions. This works seamlessly across Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and their variants.
Previously, Passwordless Unlock required our desktop applications to be installed. Now, browser-only users can enjoy the same convenient, secure access.
Seamless Integration with Your Current Setup
We’ve built these new passkey capabilities to work alongside your current security setup. All your existing Two-Factor Authentication methods remain completely unchanged. Authenticator apps, SMS verification, and other 2FA options continue to work exactly as before.
For Passwordless Unlock, if you’re currently using Windows Hello or Mac Touch ID, you’ll see a one-time “Action Needed: Set Up a Passkey” message when you update. This quick setup enhances your security and keeps everything running smoothly. I’s a simple one-time process that takes just moments to complete.
Desktop and Extension Interface Updates
As part of this update, we’ve also introduced Lock/Unlock functionality to our desktop clients and browser extensions. This alternative to a full Log Out is convenient and secure. It allows quick access to your data via biometrics or a hardware security key.
