Custom Fields Form Filler | Autofill

Flexibility is important in a password manager. If you use RoboForm’s built-in form filler, you know what a time saver it is. Complete online forms with just a few easy clicks, and you’re on your way. No typing required!

To get even more out of this feature, you’ll want to set up custom fields. These allow you to store bits of personal information not associated with one of RoboForm’s default categories — Person, Business, Passport, Address, Credit Card, Bank Account, and Car — and are a great way to customize RoboForm’s form-filling feature to meet your needs.

Examples of custom fields you might want to set up:

• Answers to security questions, such as your mother’s maiden name or the name of your first pet
• Health insurance policy numbers
• Social media handles (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
• Gender
• Ethnicity
• Highest level of school completed

How to Create Custom Fields

Creating custom fields in RoboForm is easy once you get the hang of it.

To get started:

1. Launch the RoboForm Editor, then click on your Identity in the Navigation pane (2nd from the left).

2. Click to the left of your Identity in the Navigation pane, then click .

NOTE: Each row of the Custom Fields screen contains the contents of one custom field.

3. Create a custom field:
   a) Fill the Field Name field with the prompt (e.g., Mothers Maiden Name).
   b) Fill the Field Value field with your response to the prompt (e.g., Smith).
   c) (Optional) In the Other Matching Strings field, indicate a prompt that RoboForm should consider as a possible match for this entry (e.g., Field Name: Mothers Maiden Name; Other Matching Strings: Moms Maiden Name). When RoboForm detects a match on an online form to an Other Matching Strings term, it will fill the field with the appropriate Field Value.
   d) Continue adding custom fields, as needed.
4. When you’re finished adding custom fields, click Save. Your custom fields will be saved, and if you’ve filled all available rows with custom fields, RoboForm will generate five new empty slots for you to work with.

Helpful Tips

• RoboForm removes all punctuation (, . – ! ?) in your custom fields when it fills forms, so there’s no need to include punctuation when setting up custom fields.
• To automatically fill field values with a checkmark (✓) (e.g., Are you over 18?), fill the Field Name field with the prompt (e.g., Are you over 18), and the Field Value field with an asterisk (*).
• Radio buttons allow you to select one option out of a list (e.g., Married, Single, etc.). To create a custom field for radio buttons, simply fill the Field Name field with the prompt (e.g., Marital Status) and the Field Value field with your answer (e.g., Married).
• You don’t need to enter dashes or spaces for fields with numbers (e.g., phone numbers and health insurance policy numbers).

How to Fill Forms From Custom Fields

RoboForm populates custom fields in online forms the same as regular fields.

• If your browser supports Inplace Autofill, just hover over the RoboForm AutoFill Icon that displays beside fields that are eligible for Autofill , select your Identity, and your form fills automatically.
• If your browser doesn’t yet support Inplace Autofill, in your RoboForm Add-On, select your Identity, and your form fills automatically.

Like everything else you save to RoboForm, data used in custom fields is securely encrypted and stored in your vault. When RoboForm is locked, no one will be able to access your data. And it will be accessible on all your devices via the RoboForm app, as it syncs just like passwords.
